Understand, simplify, structure

Some people build software. Others build companies. Others build communities. For more than forty years, I have been building organisations.

Whether a small business, a municipality, a government department, a community organisation or a startup, my role stays the same: understand the problem, simplify the situation, and put a structure in place that lets the organisation grow sustainably.

My expertise goes well beyond technology. It rests on a deep understanding of organisations, their leaders, their employees and the challenges they face every day. Technology is a means. It has never been the point.

On the technical side, I designed my first cloud architecture in 2008, back when the word "cloud" still made IT departments smile. Since then I have worked with organisations such as Hydro-Québec, Desjardins, Bombardier Aerospace, Intact Financial and Société Générale, in environments ranging from fifteen servers to more than four thousand.

On the human side, I founded CARE Montréal, a homelessness shelter organisation that became Montreal’s first mixed shelter open twenty-four hours a day with no conditions of entry. It grew to four sites and 250 staff, and is now run by Cap St-Barnabé — which was the goal.

Today my work is split between cybersecurity and identity architecture engagements within the Government of Quebec, leading ITGS, building Synera and Moja, supporting boards of directors, and speaking.
