Running ITGS while practising offensive security changes how I design infrastructure. I know what a network looks like from the attacker’s seat, because that is the seat I occupy the rest of the time.
Conversely, operating environments day to day stops me recommending measures that look excellent on paper and become unliveable after three weeks.
